Thought of the Day August 16, 2021 Forgiveness: sign of weakness or strength

By 9:57 AM

Most people think that when you forgive another it is a sign of weakness. Is God weak when he freely, out of love, forgives us continually? Or is it a rather a sign of his strength? "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." Could it be that non-forgiveness is the real sign of weakness? Unfortunately, we buy into the thinking of the world, when we see forgiveness as a sign of weakness. Jesus tells us to seek that which is of greater value. St. Paul tells us: "Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect." (Roms 12:2) It is out of our true identity as sons and daughters of God that we can choose to forgive as God has forgiven us. Step into the grace that God gives you in this moment to forgive, which means to give it to God.
