Thought of the Day July 14, 2021 Where are we?

By 10:18 AM

"Conversion is...a long process, a spiritual journey made up of failures and falls, and also, made up of new beginnings, new discoveries; the experience at every moment of the fidelity of a God who calls us back to him, who changes our hearts of stone into hearts of flesh."

Our spiritual journey began in the mind of God, according to St. Paul. He says in his Letter to the Ephesians: "God chose us in Christ Jesus, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and without blemish before him. In love he destined us for adoption to himself through Jesus Christ, in accord with the favor of his will, for the praise of the glory of his grace that he granted us in the beloved." (Eph 1:4-6) Our life is not an accident but the choice of God. Our destiny is not haphazard but to share in God's life in eternal glory. Our personal journey began when we were conceived and were born. Our personal spiritual journey began in the the waters of Baptism. But we did not know God. At some later point of our life we embraced what God did for us in Baptism and had a "conversion" moment (by God's grace). It was then that our spiritual journey began in earnest. Our journey involved deeper repentance, transformation, glorification and ultimately union with God. It is a journey of ups and downs, of struggles and success, of darkness and light. The question is where are we at this point of our journey to God? What is God asking of us at this moment of our journey so as to move forward?
