To fall is part of our weakened nature, the result of Original Sin.  To remain in the state of sin is to play into the hand of the Evil One. But to rise, to repent and tor return to the Lord is a grace from God. He gives us the grace, because in his unconditional mercy he desires us to be one with him. Jesus himself said, "There is more joy in heaven oven one sinner who repents." We may fall into the ocean of sin, but God throws us a life preserver. The choice to sin is ours; the choice to grab hold of the preserver is also ours.
