Thought of the Day November 26, 2019 The will of God and my will

By 9:37 AM

“To know the will of God is the greatest knowledge! To do the will of God is the greatest achievement!” (George W. Truett)

Bobby Richardson, a former New York Yankee second baseman, at a meeting of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, prayed this simple prayer. This prayer is classic in brevity and poignancy: “Dear God, Your will, nothing more, nothing less, nothing else. Amen.”

Our prayer in the Our Father is "Thy will be done."

All this is based on the life and teaching of Jesus. He said that he came to do the will of his Father. He taught that only those who do the will of God will enter into the kingdom of God.

How important is the will of God for us, not just to know it but to do it, not just to say it but to embrace it?  Even though  it is not always easy to do the will of God, because of our own selfish wants, it is the surest way to share in God's life forever.
