Why is this so? Because when we receive the Body and Blood of Jesus in a worthy state we are participating the very act of our salvation; we are uniting ourselves with the very life of God, which we desire to share eternally In receiving the Blessed Sacrament we are committing ourselves to live in such a way as is pleasing to the God we are in union with. How is this so? It is the promise of Christ: "If you eat my Body and drink my Blood you shall have life everlasting. It is not magic. It is veracity of God and our commitment to do his will.
