The Evil One wants us to fight him directly. When we do, we probably will lose. When we are tempted, we need to turn our gaze and full attention to the Lord. Jesus has overcome Satan through his death on the cross. Jesus has broken the chains that enslaved us.  When we learn to switch our attention to the Lord and express our love for the Lord, then we are stepping aside for the Lord to confront and overcome Satan. By expressing our love for the Lord, rather than for self-satisfaction, we remain in right order. In doing so, we are proclaiming in action that the Lord is our deliverer and our stronghold, our defender and our strength.
