God in his great love provides us grace opportunities to be freed of our sins and to be restored to him in friendship. He doesn't want us to remain away from him and to enter deeper into the darkness of alienation. He gives us the Sacrament of Confession to make it easy for us to confess our sins. But when we refuse to do so, we only hurt ourselves, not him. We are rejecting his love and choosing to remain in the filth of sin. Maybe we are hedging our bets, hoping that we can go on sinning, but at the very end repent. What we are risking is eternal separation from God. Repent and return to the Lord. Take advantage of God's mercy and swallow your pride. Accuse yourself before the Lord in Confession rather than wait to be accused by the Lord for your lack of love and gratitude.
