Many of us fail in our role as disciples because we remain silent rather than speak the truth. We are afraid of the consequences to our reputation, to our position, to our relationship with the other person. But there is another more important relationship and that is with God. In speaking the truth in love, we may offend another human person, but in remaining silent, we will offend God. The other person may judge us in this life. God will judge us in eternity for eternity. Jesus spoke the truth, even though he knew he would suffer rejection and ultimately condemnation. Peter failed to speak the truth when questioned about his relationship with Jesus. Ask God for the grace to speak the truth rather than to remain silent.
