As we are about to enter into the grace-season of Lent, we are reminded that through his death on the cross, Jesus forgave our sins because of his great love. Love of his Father and love of us was the motive of Jesus' act. As he calls us to forgive ourselves and others, he is not asking us to suffer as he suffered, but to love as he loves. His prayer to the Father for those who rejected him and condemned him to crucifixion was loving forgiveness. As we grow in love of God and see things more through the eyes of God, the more we will be able to forgive ourselves and others. Lord, deepen my love for you!
