Lent is a special season of God's mercy. For the greatest sign of his mercy is the death and resurrection of Jesus, bringing us the grace of salvation and eternal life. We can experience his mercy in many ways. But in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, that grace is made available to us, who are sinners. To stay away from a source of mercy is to stay away from the banquet table. We need to eat and drink to survive. We need our sins forgiven. God has shown us his plan. Why do we prefer our way rather than his? Is it because of pride? It is humbling to be obedient to God, but it was pride and disobedience that led us to sin. Choose: our way or God's way.
