Thought of the Day May 11, 2020 Fire of Presence

By 10:22 AM

From the beginning of Genesis until the end of Revelation a constant theme is that of God’s desire to share his life with us. In Genesis we read the story of created love. In Revelation we hear the words: “This is God’s dwelling among men. He shall dwell with them and they shall be his people and he shall be their God who is always with them.” (Rev 21:3)

God’s passion is to bring us to the place of abiding in Him, so that wherever we go, our life is in Him “In whom we live, move and have our being” (Acts 17:28). It was the prayer of Jesus for the Father to give us His Spirit that we may become “one” as He is with the Father.

God, who is complete without us, desires intimacy with us, so that we may be complete in him.. God whose life is love in the unity of persons--Father, Son and Spirit-- calls us into unity with him through love.  Without intimacy with God the fire within us ignited and fueled by the indwelling presence of the Spirit will die down. Come, Holy Spirit, come! Set abaze in me the fire of your love.
