Thought of the Day February 1, 2021 Dismiss all anxieties

By 10:12 AM

Who among us do not have many of anxieties and burdens? Everyday brings its own struggles and concerns. That's part of our human experience. How are we to deal with them? In 1 Cor 7:32, Paul tells us: "I should like you to be free of anxieties." In Philippians 4:6-7, Paul further instructs us: "Be anxious about nothing. But in all things, with prayer and supplication, with acts of thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God."  In Matthew 11:28, Jesus tells us: "Come to me, all you who labor and have been burdened, and I will refresh you."

Do these verses give us a plan of action? We can not resolve for the most part our anxieties, neither by medication or stimulants. These are merely temporary fixes for a moment. Instead, we are called to bring our anxieties and worries to the Lord, to surrender our hanging on to them to the Lord. He alone is the Lord of all things. He alone knows what we need to be able to keep our eyes on him, while going through a particular difficulty. We have tried to handle these anxieties and burdens our way. What will happen if we would try to deal with them according to God's plan? They will not necessary go away. But the weight of their burden upon us will be different. For we are not alone in facing the situation.
