When Jesus had dinner in the house of Lazarus, Mary sat at his feet and listened. Martha busied herself with preparing and providing the meal. Upset that Mary was not helping her. Jesus' response was that Mary has chosen the better part. What Martha was doing was good. What Mary was doing was better. How often we fret over things that are not consequential, rather than focus on things that draw us to God. Paul reminds us to dismiss all anxieties and turn our focus to God. Life is too short for us to waste on the non essentials. What matters is what pertains to God.
