As the Feast of Pentecost is the birth of the Church, so the Monday after this feast is that of Mary, Mother of the Church. At the foot of the cross, Mary became both the spiritual Mother of each of Jesus' disciples and the Mother of the Church. How blessed are we to have such a person to walk with us as a individual and to walk with the Church as an entity. After the Ascension, Mary was with the Apostles and others praying for the coming of the Holy Spirit. On the day of Pentecost, Mary was with the Apostles and others when the Spirit was poured forth upon them. As individuals and as a body of believers, we should seek her intercession and her protection, as we discern our journey to the fullness of glory with God.  Mary, Mother of the Church be with us and guide us to your Son!
