When a person is angry with you for whatever reason, your human tendency is to strike back and defend yourself. Now, there are two angry people in the scene. What is accomplished? Nothing. It takes one person to diffuse the situation, not by adding fuel to the fire, but by the cooling the situation with prayer and silence. Humanly hard to do, but not for a disciple of Jesus, who depends on the grace of God at all times. Communications can be disrupted in a violent storm. Only when there is calm, can things be restored. In times of anger we say hateful things. In times of calm we can speak the truth in love. Choose the higher ground.
