 Freedom is not license to do whatever we wish, which many times really becomes sinful. God has given us the gift of free will, so that out of love for him we may choose what is in union with  his will, what is good, pleasing and perfect. We can choose to be in relationship with him or to choose not to be. Adam and Eve misused their freedom by choosing their will over and against God's will. Jesus, in his humanity, chose to do the Father's will even to the death by crucifixion. Each time we choose to act in relationship with God then our freedom is properly exercised. Each time we choose to act contrary to the will of God, our freedom is misappropriated. A gift properly used bears good fruit.
