Thought of the Day April 28, 2020 The Spirit intercedes for us

By 10:55 AM

We continue our reflection on the Holy Spirit as our Advocate before the Father. Paul tells us in his Letter to the Romans the following: "The Spirit too comes to the aid of our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit intercedes with inexpressible groanings. And the one who searches hearts knows what is the intention of the Spirit, because he intercedes for the holy ones according to God’s will" (Roms 8:26-27).

How often we find ourselves in this situation. We may be trying to help someone and we don't know what to pray for. At that point we need to turn to the Holy Spirit and ask the Giver of life to intercede before the Father for what is exactly needed by this person, which he knows.

At other times we do not know God's will for us in a given situation. Instead of agonizing over this, we need to trust in the word of God and ask the Spirit to help us to be open to God's perfect will. We are not alone in our journey. Jesus has left us his Spirit to accompany us to the Father. Let us stop acting as if we are alone. Pray with me: "Come, Holy Spirit, come!"
