What is a humble heart? It is one which recognizes the greatness of God with gratitude and praise. The humble heart acknowledges one's total dependence upon God. At the same time, it comes before the Lord as a struggling sinner, who has failed many times, always in need of God's mercy and forgiveness. This was the attitude and stance of the Tax Collector in contrast to the arrogant Pharisee in the parable of Jesus. The prayer of the humble heart is heard and answered by God, because the person is in right relationship with God. How humble is our prayer before the Lord?
